The Tenderloin Project

1999   |   San Francisco, CA
PROJECT PARTNERS:
The Tenderloin Project was a series of five works for and about the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco, meant to serve as vehicles to address the issues and realities of the Tenderloin community. To give Tenderloin and San Francisco residents the opportunity to see an artist’s creative process, Cook made the five works in a large glass space in a major corridor of the city, adjacent to the Tenderloin neighborhood. After seven days of working up to twenty hours per day, the five works, depicting six residents, were installed for up to five years in different locations in the Tenderloin.
